Storm Damage Repair in Norwalk

When wind lifts shingles, cracks tile or tears a flat-roof seam, we find every damaged spot, explain how that material failed and repair it so the next storm finds nothing loose. You get photos, a written estimate and a clear plan for your home.

How Wind and Rain Open Up a Roof

A storm seldom leaves one obvious hole. What we usually find is a row of shingles whose sealant strip let go, a few concrete tiles knocked out of their courses, or a flat-roof seam a gust peeled back. Each of those lets water reach the underlayment, and underlayment was never meant to be the last line of defense for long.

Shingles, tile and membrane each fail in their own way, so the repair follows the roof type. Asphalt shingles crease at the nail line and lose their bond. Concrete and clay tile crack or slide, leaving the felt underneath exposed to sun and water. Built-up and modified bitumen roofs blister and split at the laps. Knowing which failure you have tells us what to replace and what can stay.

Winter storms here tend to arrive after long dry months, when sealant and old felt are at their most brittle. That is why we check the whole roof, not only the spot you noticed, and why we tell you plainly whether a repair will hold or whether roof replacement is the honest answer.

What the Repair Includes

Full-roof damage survey

We inspect every slope, plus the ridge, hips, valleys and edges. Wind damage tends to cluster on the windward side and along rakes, so we look there first but finish everywhere.

Shingle reseal and replacement

Creased or torn shingles come out and matching shingles go in, nailed in the correct zone and hand-sealed. Shingles that only lost their bond get resealed so they stop lifting.

Tile reset and replacement

Cracked tiles are swapped, slipped tiles are reset on their battens, and we check the felt beneath for tears. Where the underlayment is damaged, we lift the surrounding tile and patch it properly instead of hiding it.

Flat and low-slope seam repair

We cut out blistered or split membrane, clean back to a sound surface and lap new membrane over the area so water runs across the seam, not into it.

Flashing, vents and edges

Bent drip edge, loose pipe boots, torn vent flashing and lifted ridge cap get refastened or replaced. These small metal and rubber parts let in more water than most people expect.

Photo record for your claim

You get dated photos of each damaged area before and after the repair. We work directly with your insurance claim. When the adjuster comes out, we can be on the roof to point out each spot and explain how it was damaged.

Signs a Storm Damaged Your Roof

  • Shingle pieces in the yard

Granule-coated scraps on the lawn or driveway mean tabs tore off somewhere. The gap they left exposes nail heads and felt.

  • Tiles out of line

From the street, look for a broken pattern in the tile courses. A slipped or missing tile leaves the underlayment open to sun, which breaks it down fast.

  • New ceiling stains after rain

A brown ring that shows up after a storm usually means water found a lifted shingle, a cracked tile or a failed flashing joint above it.

  • Bent metal at the edges

Curled drip edge, a dented vent cap or flashing pulled away from a wall shows where wind got under the roof.

  • Water pooling on a flat section

Standing water a day or two after rain on a patio cover or flat roof often points to a split seam or a low spot that storm debris made worse.

How a Storm Repair Visit Runs

  1. 1

    Phone call and scheduling

Tell us what you saw and when the storm hit. We set a time for a free roof inspection and answer questions in English or Spanish.

  2. 2

    Inspection and photos

We check every slope, the flashing and the attic if it is reachable, photographing each damaged area. Then we show you what we found and explain the cause, not just the symptom.

  3. 3

    Written estimate

You get a free written estimate listing each repair by location and roof type. If filing a claim makes sense, we explain how that process works and coordinate with your insurer.

  4. 4

    Repair and cleanup

Plants and walkways get covered before work starts. Once the repairs are done, we run a magnet over the lawn and paving to pick up stray nails, haul off the torn shingles or broken tile, and show you the finished work up close.

What Moves the Cost of a Storm Repair

Storm repairs are priced one roof at a time, since the damage, the material and the layers beneath it differ from house to house. We set a number only after we have been up on the roof, and each item is written out so you can see where the money goes. When the repair runs larger than your budget, Service Finance Company can spread the cost into payments once your credit is approved.

Shingle, tile or membrane type
Matching an older shingle color or tracking down a discontinued concrete tile profile takes more time than replacing a current product. Flat-roof repairs depend on whether the roof is built-up, modified bitumen or a single-ply system.
How far the water got
Surface damage is one thing. If water has soaked the underlayment or softened the roof deck, those layers need replacing too, and we show you photos before adding that work.
Number and spread of damaged areas
Ten scattered tiles across four slopes take longer than ten in one spot, because each area means lifting and resetting the pieces around it.
Roof pitch and access
Steeper slopes and two-story walls need more safety setup. Tile roofs also need careful foot placement so we do not crack good tiles while fixing bad ones.

Storm Damage Repair Questions

Something not covered here? (562) 534-3894

Should I call my insurance company or a roofer first?

It often helps to have the roof looked at before you call your insurer, so you know what you are reporting. Our inspection is free, and the photos are yours whether or not you file. If you go ahead with a claim, we work directly with your insurance claim, but the coverage decision belongs to the adjuster.

Can you match my existing shingles or tile?

Usually, yes. Asphalt shingles are matched by brand, line and color, and concrete tile by profile and color. When an exact match is discontinued, we show you the closest options and explain where a slight difference will and will not be visible.

My roof looks fine from the ground. Could it still be damaged?

Yes. A shingle can lose its seal and still lie flat until the next gust lifts it, and cracked tile often looks whole from below. A close inspection is the only reliable way to know.

Is it better to repair or replace after a storm?

When the storm hit only a few spots and the surrounding shingles or tile still have years of service in them, we fix those spots and stop there. Brittle shingles, felt breaking down across several slopes, or a roof already covered in old patches change the math, and roof replacement can work out cheaper over time. We walk you through both paths and the reasoning for each.

How soon should storm damage be repaired?

As soon as it can be scheduled. Exposed underlayment breaks down in sunlight, and the next rain will find any opening. Waiting turns a small shingle or tile repair into deck and ceiling work.
